Packaging is one of the services we are proud of. In average we export 500 boxes with about 4000 Wild Discus per year to our annual quota. There are about 10,000 kg of cargo leaving the Amazon for four continents.
On longer journeys to China, our Wild Discus travel to three continents in South America, Europe and Asia taking more than 87 hours to reach the destination. In other cases like Europe, it never takes more than 67 hours, as well as for the United States Miami around 31 h.
This service in the 2018/2019 Season was a huge success with about 85% of Wild Discus exported we did not have a death upon arrival (DOA).
Shipment when arrive to different part of the World
The reasons are simple. For 15 days the fish are under observation. They are filmed and photographed for the importing clients to see them, because they are all chosen one by one for catalog photography. In those 15 days if a treatment is necessary it is carried out, we usually use niforpirinol for 3 days to end some harmful bacteria.
In this image we can see the Wild Discus before entering the bags on a plastic bench. The reason for this process is simple. The wild discus when removed from the Aquarium in the export room was 4 to 5 days without being fed. But in fact the last faeces and urine end up staying from this of these plastic basquets. A way to eliminate as much urine or feces as possible during the hours that will be closed inside a plastic bag with water and oxygen.
The transport water is prepared in advance and chemically balanced, as well as a quantity of diluted oxygen that allows even the oxygen inserted in the bags to end, the wild discus do not die due to lack of the same oxygen .
We use four types of hard plastic bags. Two by two and a black bag for the fish are to have any light in case some box is opened to be inspected, besides being stronger black bags in order not to broke .
This work is also performed when the Wild Discus are brought from the jungle, packaged one by one. In other words, these fish end up being packaged twice before being exported. Zero mortality rate due to all cares in your transportation.
